Sonam Kapoor caught at BIA without ‘identity’
Neither airport security nor travellers could recognise her.
Bangalore does not know Bollywood stars and Sonam Kapoor faced this bitter truth in the first person last night at BIA. The actress was caught embarrassed outside Gate 2 (Departures) where she was held for more than half an hour by security personnel for the lack of proper identification.
Sonam was accompanied by a female friend, assumed to be her manager, who tried fending off the occasional enquiries about the star’s identity. When DNA tried approaching the duo, enquiring if it was Sonam Kapoor, we were quite sternly told, “No, she isn’t. Does she even look like Sonam Kapoor?”
What was really surprising was the lack of any chaos or excitement at the presence of a ‘star’ and the lack of any entourage, whatsoever. Travellers checking in through the same gate passed Sonam Kapoor, oblivious to her star presence and the same attitude was meted out by the security personnel too. Sonam and her friend were seen making frantic calls for several minutes, after which, eventually, she was escorted into the airport, fuming.
Airport authorities confirmed Sonam’s presence at BIAL and also confirmed her lack of any proper ID.
