Harassment by a few men reportedly forced the woman, Sanjana, 34, to attempt suicide.

The men reportedly had met her on Wednesday morning and asked her to vacate the apartment.

A note purportedly written by Sanjana said she had complained to the police regarding the harassment twice: in August 2009 and April 2010. However, no action was taken. The police denied receiving any complaints.

Police said the divorced woman  took about 70 sleeping pills around 4.30 pm, when her children, a 10-year-old daughter and son, aged 8, were away. Police were informed of the incident by the Utility Life Line hospital. Her condition was stated to be stable.
