Sessions court will hear Darshan’s bail plea on Monday

The bail plea, filed by Sandalwood actor Tugudeepa Darshan, will come up for hearing before the sessions court on September 19.

Darshan, on Wednesday, filed a bail petition before the sessions court a day after the 1st additional chief metropolitan magistrate (ACMM) court rejected his plea.

The case came up for hearing before principal sessions judge RB Budhihal, who issued notices to the public prosecutor Agasi Mani with directions to file objections, before adjourning the case to September 19.

ACMM court, on Tuesday, did not consider Darshan’s plea to remove charges of attempt to murder against him. Senior assistant public prosecutor GH Amrutha Kumar submitted the medical certificate of the actor’s wife Vijayalakshmi, which stated that she suffered from serious injuries.

The court also did not consider the affidavit filed by Vijayalakshmi stating that she sustained the injuries after falling in the bathroom.

Darshan was arrested by Vijayanagar police on September 9 after Vijayalakshmi filed complaint accusing the actor of assaulting him. He was then sent to 14-day judicial custody.

Darshan is undergoing treatment at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases for asthma and jaundice.

Contempt plea  against Ambarish?
Meanwhile, a high court advocate AV Amarnathan on Wednesday sought the permission of advocate general BV Acharya to file a criminal contempt plea against Sandalwood stars Ambarish, Duniya Vijay, Jaggesh and Rockline Venkatesh.

Moving the application, Amarnathan contended that since an FIR had been registered, the move by the four actors to force Vijayalakshmi to change her statement amounted to interference in the administration of justice and contempt of court.

As per the provisions of Contempt of Courts Act, 1971, before filing a petition for initiating action under criminal contempt charge, the consent of advocate general is mandatory. Even in cases of AG not giving his consent, the party can still file a petition, but has to satisfy the court about its maintainability.
