After his return from hospital on Friday, the actor went to jail library and took some books to his D Block cell.

Sources said that he read The Last Mughal by William Dalrymple that evening. The five books that Darshan borrowed from the library include Kannada novels by Sudha Murty and Belkere Krishna Murthy.

On Sunday, he asked authorities to bring all the newspapers being subscribed by the jail to his cell. Darshan had fewer visitors on Sunday as he met only family members.

Until Friday, the Challenging Star did not venture out of the jail’s D block. But he has started to eat the food provided in the jail, said sources. Darshan, who was only eating only home-made food, started eating jail food from Friday evening.

He continues to go on walks with his cell-mate Katta Jagadish. The actor, accused of assaulting his wife Vijayalakshmi and son Vineesh, is in judicial custody. Darshan, however, claims he is innocent.

The actor filed a bail petition before the high court after his plea was rejected by the sessions court. The case will come up for hearing on October 6.
