Improving hostels and revamping distance education were some of the key points discussed at the 98th meeting of the Bangalore University (BU) Syndicate.

Under the chairmanship of CK Jagadish Prasad, it was resolved that the hostel management/ improvement committee will be formed to improve hostel infrastructure.

A senior BU official said Rs1.5 crore would be allotted for this project. He said the hostel can accommodate only 300 students, but 700 students have applied for accommodation. Focus will be on improving sanitation facilities and water supply. The issue of improving the quality of BU’s distance education courses was also discussed. A syndicate member said the syllabus of correspondence courses could be changed.
