BANGALORE
On June 30, an anti-social element Rowdy Pitta alias Nagaraj was identified with the help of a CCTV footage when he attacked his rival Rowdy Manja alias Vale Manja, in front of the latter’s house in Jayanagar.
While the police department’s plan of installing CCTV cameras in notorious parts of the city has taken a backseat, rowdies have successfully deployed such cameras at their lairs. The reason: To guard themselves from rival rowdy gangs and to detect police presence in the locality for an easy getaway.
“We are aware that rowdies and gangsters in the city have installed surveillance cameras outside their homes. We are trying to find out the exact number of those who have such cameras. We will keep a close watch on them,” said DCP South, Sonia Narang.
