It’s a year since www.rtination.com was launched. The website has earned the respect and goodwill of many, as it has come to the aid of all those interested in filing an RTI application.

The online system that was started for better governance has received a tremendous response, owing to the easy and convenient working of the website.

The website is a brainchild of of an IIM student, Rahul Gupta, and an IIT Kanpur graduate, Prateek Kumar, who were  honoured with the Karmaveer Chakra award this November, for social entrepreneurship and for bringing about a social impact.

“The website reaches out to those who would have avoided filing an RTI application owing to the long and laborious process involved,” said Gupta.

He pointed out that in a recent survey, the national average of response rate to a filed application is merely 26%, but through the online system, the response rate has risen to over 50%.

“We found that delays arise in the procurement of information for simple processes, like acquiring a licence or a passport. We are currently looking into resolving personal issues,” said Gupta.

He cites an instance where one of the users received his passport within 15 days of filing the RTI, and also received a response to the RTI questions he had furnished after several unsuccessful attempts.

At present, the team of seven is training and hiring as the online system is growing into the choice medium of people to file applications.
