Addressing mediapersons, the minister said, “The Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) conspired to destabilise the Yeddyurappa-led government in the third week of September itself. I had  brought this to the attention of the chief minister. However, I never met any opposition leader as has been said in various reports.”

It may be recalled that Renukacharya, who led the rebellion in the BJP, later switched his allegiance and returned to the loyalists’ camp. The excise minister even accompanied the rebels on their tour to Chennai and Goa before backtracking.

“It is a fact that I signed a letter resigning from the ministry, but the rebels used it for withdrawing support to the government. I tried my best to convince the rebels to abandon their plans. I will reveal everything at the right time,” he said.
