The gang used to offer lifts to lonely late-night travellers in their car, and threaten them with razors to part with their valuables, debit and credit cards and Pin numbers. The victims were later pushed out of the vehicle at isolated areas.

Police said electronic gadgets worth `2.50 lakh and `60,000 in cash were recovered from the gang and concentrated on areas such as Koramangala’s Sony World Junction, Madiwala Ring Road, Silk Board Junction, Mahadevapura Ring Road, Whitefield and Nagawara Ring Road, frequented by IT professionals.

The miscreants had picked up a call centre employee, Srinivas C, from Silk Board Junction and were heading towards Infantry Road when they landed in the police net on Thursday night. Police said the gang targeted those employed with Cisco, Adobe Systems, Lucent, TCS and Target Corporations.
