BANGALORE
The Hubli-Dharwad police stopped the DJ party scheduled to be held on Saturday night, preventing what could have been a repeat of the Mangalore pub incident, by giving no opportunity to the Sriram Sene to flex its muscle.
Thanking dna for publishing the report which alerted him to the situation, police commissioner BA Padmanayana said he had issued strict instructions to prevent such illegal events.
"However, one cannot take law into their hands at any situation. If anybody gets a clue about such happenings, they should intimate police," he asserted.
NSUI national delegate and student of BVB Engineering College, Rajat Ullagaddimath, took a print-out of the e-paper of dna and approached Hubli north ACP AR Badiger, asking him to stop the party. He said he would draw the attention of chief minister Siddaramaiah during his visit to the city on Sunday.
Meanwhile, OMG lounge, that was to host the party, has called off the event and expressed regret to its guests on its Facebook page. Thanking police for their support, guidance and advise, the management hoped that people, who have been spreading "silly" rumours about Hubli's party culture, would have the "wisdom to understand and respect feelings and choices of today's youth".
