A pedestrian was killed after being knocked down by a speeding car near Bommanahalli junction during the wee hours of Sunday. The deceased Hema Reddy, 44, was a resident of Devarachikkanahalli and was returning from his native place Chittor when the incident happened. The incident came to light after some passersby noticed Reddy lying in a pool of blood and reported the incident to the police. The Madiwala jurisdictional police have posted a video footage of the incident captured by the CCTV camera at the spot on Facebook, seeking help from public to nab the car driver. “After hitting Hema Reddy, the car driver did not stop. The car is blue coloured and look like an Esteem. The windshield of the car was broken. The accident was reported in Hulimavu traffic police station limits. The deceased Anil Kumar, 23, had bought a bike just a few days ago and was riding to his friend’s place when the accident occurred. Eye-witnesses said the bus hit the bike from the rear and ran over Kumar after he fell down due to the impact. Furious locals pelted stones at the bus after the incident. The driver of the bus absconded from the spot. The deceased’s father filed a police complaint. 2 held for stealing white keroseneThe Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested two people on charges of stealing white kerosene (fuel used in flights) from tankers heading towards Bangalore International Airport (BIA). The arrested are M Devaraju, a resident of Bangalore North Taluk and Khader M, a resident of Hoskote. Police seized 20,000 litres of white kerosene worth Rs25 lakh, one tanker, barrels and equipment used to steal the fuel from them. The police said that driver and cleaner of the tanker too were involved in the crime.
