Police crack murder case of Sandalwood actress

The murder case of small-time Sandalwood actress has been handed over to the Nandini Layout police who will carry out the investigation further. Alok Kumar, joint commissioner of police (crime), said that the Central Crime Branch police, which was investigating the case, have arrested all the six accused in the case.

“They have recovered `52.6 lakh from Yogesh’s house which was illegally earned. They also seized a Santro car used for committing  the murder. The total value of the items seized in the case is Rs55 lakh,” said Kumar.

The case was handed over to the CCB police after victim’s sister Mamatha approached the city police commissioner Shankar M Bidari. Mamatha had earlier filed a complaint with the Nandini Layout police suspecting that Yogesh had killed Manjula.

Manjula was killed in July by supari killers hired by her husband Yogesh, who suspected her fidelity. After Manjula's murder on July 10, Yogesh had filed a missing complaint with the Nandini Layout police on July 12. “After I filed the case, Yogesh went to the police station along with some influential persons and tried to close the case. He also warned me that nothing will happen if I fought the case alone. I informed the commissioner about the incident,” said Mamatha, who was informed about the quarrels between Manjula and Yogesh.

Mamatha’s suspicion was raised when she found Manjula’s cell phone. Yogesh had given supari to his friends Vikram, a rowdysheeter and Arun H, to kill Manjula. These two took the help of their friends Anil A, Raheesha and Prakasha for the murder. Vikram, who was being interrogated by the police in another case, provided several leads to Manjula’s murder case.

Reacting to rising crime rate as fallout of bitter relationships, Bidari said couples should take the legal route, instead of committing crime, to get rid of troubled relationships.
