T Linganna Chottanahalli, a library assistant with the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (Nimhans), has created a record by writing as many as 151 poems dedicated to Dr Rajkumar. The collection of poems titled Muthurajage Muttina Hanigalu is published by Suchitha Prakashana.
The 54-year-old fan decided to write the poems after he witnessed a function by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike after 100 days of Dr Rajkumar’s death. “I was standing in the middle of the crowd to pay tribute to Dr Rajkumar in the Town Hall when the thought came to my mind that being his ardent fan, I should also pay a tribute. That day I decided to write poems on Dr Rajkumar,” said Linganna who is also a theatre artist.
Initially, Linganna had decided to write 80 poems. “When I went to Prof Doddarangegowda, he said that I should write 108 poems as Dr Rajkumar had spent these many days in the custody of forest brigand Veerappan. On this condition he agreed write preface to my book,” he said.
Linganna has not missed a single movie of Dr Rajkumar and has a collection of all the movies and audio cassettes of the star in his home. “When I met Dr Rajkumar’s son Shivanna, he was shocked to see the photos of his grandparents Singanaluru Puttaswamayya and Lakshmamma printed in the book. He said that even his house does not have the photos. He was very happy and asked me to write 500 poems on Dr Rajkumar. By April end the second edition of the book will be released,” he said.
Linganna has also written 101 slokas on Dr Rajkumar. He has released audio CD on Dr Rajkumar Muthurajanige Muthinarathi. His book has been nominated for Guinness Book of World Records.
