Seething over his party’s refusal to yield to his demands, former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa on late Friday night reportedly met Congress leader CM Ibrahim, setting rumour mills abuzz about his future moves.
Yeddyurappa is said to have met Ibrahim to discuss the prospects of a poll alliance if he launched his own party. Ibrahim, who played a key role in Siddaramaiah switching over from the JD(S) to the Congress, is said to have suggested Yeddyurappa to ditch the BJP.
Sources said that Yeddyurappa was confidant of winning at least 30 to 40 seats if he floated a new political party. If he can be an ally with the Congress, then pressure can be amounted on the Congress to make Siddaramaiah the CM.
While Yeddyurappa rejected the rumours, Ibrahim did not react to the issue.
Meanwhile, Union minister for labour Mallikarjun Kharge called
Yeddyurappa’s move an act of desperation.
