Students highlighted the pressure exerted on them by the college to secure good marks in examinations. Students also complained of college timings, hostel food and the college’s refusal to allow use of laptops in rooms.

Since these issues were not related to the incident, they were not addressed in the meeting. The college authorities and students will meet again on Wednesday, added the police.

The students complained that said the warden, Sitaram, was restricting free movement in the hostel. We pay hostel bills and there should not be restrictions, said Aakash. Some students blamed the college’s taxing schedule, where classes begin at 9.30am and end around 6pm. There are unnecessary preparatory test for each semester exam and it is mandatory that the students secure good marks.
