GKN Aerospace has opened its advanced engineering centre in Bangalore, which will support the company’s engine systems business. Currently, 70 design and development engineers are already contributing design engineering expertise to the company’s international aero-engine activities. These engineers were transferred from the Volvo’s Bangalore facility, which was acquired by GKN in October 2012, to the new centre.
The company will also initiate a local recruitment campaign to increase the workforce in Bangalore to over 100. General manager at the Bangalore engineering centre, David Orth, said the company is looking forward to playing its part in creating an effective design and engineering solutions that will help GKN Aerospace extend the performance of future aircraft and aero-engines.
