NAL competition to boost counter-terrorism plans

Here is an opportunity for all those working in the field of micro air vehicles (MAVs) to be part of a counter-terror operation and rescue hostages who have been held captive by terrorists.

At the MICAV-2013, national-level completion for MAVs that would be held next year at the DRDO test facility at Chellakere in Chitradurga district, a situation and infrastructure would be created where participants (teams) of the competition will be assigned the task carrying out reconnaissance inside a building held by terrorists and rely the same to the counter terror team.
Participating teams at the competition which is organised by the National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) would be given a total time of 40 minutes for the mission and they will have to launch their MAV’s from a site which would be located about a kilometre away from the building held by the terrorists.

The teams will have to assess the situation inside the building report it to the commander of the counter terror team and return to the launch area.

Points would be awarded to the teams upon completion of the each task.

While the winner of the competition would be awarded `3 Lakh, the runner up will get `2 Lakh and second runner up `1 Lakh. `1 lakh would be given for the best design.
