Mutalik threatens to do a Mangalore in Hubli

After lying low for over four years after the infamous attack on girls at a Mangalore pub, the Sriram Sene has threatened to repeat the feat here this Saturday.

Sene chief Pramod Mutalik has warned that his cohorts will attack a party scheduled to be hosted by wellknown DJ Rohit Barker at OMG Lounge Bar at Hotel Hansa here on Saturday.

“As police are not taking action on such illegal events, we will have to take law into our hands. We may react on the lines of the pub attack in Mangalore,” Mutalik told pressmen here.

The DJ parties hosted at luxury hotels in the city have been getting some attention, as few of them begin after 11pm and reportedly go well into the wee hours, even as the  Hubli-Dharwad police commissioner is contemplating closing all commercial establishments in the twin-cities by 10pm. A student, who attended one such party on Thursday, said the party went on till 4am on Friday.

“It was a closed-door affair, and neither police nor any other authority disturbed us,” he said.

Many hotels where such parties are held every week are situated close by educational institutions such as BVB Engineering, BBA, CIM Polytechnic, Prerana, GK Law and even MR Sakhare Primary and High School. They are attended by students from affluent families, and the raucous noise and loud music can be heard in the colleges.

The staffer of a hotel said they only rent out the premises and had nothing to do with the parties.

An NSUI member said the participants were charged between Rs1,000 and Rs3,000 and girls accompanying the boys could walk-in for free.

Police commissioner BA Padmanayana asserted that no permission was issued to any hotel or person to host such paties.

“However, if we get to know, we will surely take action according to laws,” he added. A security guard at a hotel said policemen visited the party venue, “discussed with the organisers and went away”.
