Eight cars parked outside residences on Subramanya Temple Street in Kumara Park were found to be vandalised on Wednesday morning.
The incident happened on Tuesday night, but it came to light only on the following morning when the vehicle owners found their vehicles in a damaged condition.
They immediately informed the police, who suspect that some drunk youngsters might have pelted stones on the vehicles. A senior police officer said some youngsters, who are eager to make a mark in the field of rowdyism, tend to vandalise private properties with the intention of creating public unrest, and that this could be one such incident. The police have registered a case based on the complaint lodged by the car owners.
