The Upparpet police have arrested a person, posing as the son of an additional director general of police of Kerala, for allegedly cheating a bank manager in the city.

The Upparpet police have arrested a person, posing as the son of an additional director general of police (ADGP) of Kerala, for allegedly cheating a bank manager in the city.
The accused, identified as S Shine, 30, hailing from Thiruvananthapuram, reportedly collected Rs9.5 lakh from Solen George, the manager of Federal Bank’s Gandhinagar branch, with a promise to get him a job in a foreign country.
Shine also introduced himself as the human resource manager of Dubai Airlines.
George got suspicious when Shine demanded more money. When George wanted the money back, Shine abused him and threatened him of dire consequences.
George filed a complaint with the Upparpet police who picked up Shine from Majestic. The police recovered jewellery, a laptop and a mobile worth Rs1.7 lakh from Shine.
He was staying in lodges in Gandhinagar. The police investigation revealed that he had spent about Rs8 lakh with a girl in 15 days.
Deputy commissioner of police (West) SN Sidramappa said, “We have registered a case of cheating and life threatening against Shine and arrested him from the Majestic area, based on the complaint filed by George.”
