Madani bail: Notice to CCB

The high court on Wednesday issued notices to the Central Crime Branch of (CCB) of city police regarding a bail plea by Abdul Nasser Madani, one of the accused in the July 25, 2008 Bangalore serial blasts. The court also asked Parappana Agrahara central  prison superintendent to submit a report by next week regarding the medical treatment provided to him.

Madani, a leader of Kerala based PDP party, was named named 31st accused in the case and had moved the court seeking bail on health grounds.

Madani had contended that he was a chronic diabetic and also suffering from ailments such as coronary artery disease, hypertension, cervical spondylosis, lumbar disc prolapse, peptic ulcer, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic neuropathy and urinary tract infection.

He also contended that the court in its order (dated February 11, 2011) had directed the jail authorities to accord proper medical treatment to him. However, he alleged that the jail authorities have  shown neglect in providing proper treatment and his diabetes has worsened.

Madani also assured that if he is provided bail, he will not tamper with the prosecution evidence or witnesses and will appear before the court for hearings.

It may be recalled that last year the high court had rejected his  bail plea. The serial blasts had left a woman dead and many were injured. He was arrested on August 17, 2010 from his camp at Kollam in Kerala.
