Two men allegedly kidnapped a minor girl from the city and raped her at a dargah near Shivanasamudra in Mandya district. One of the men, Wasim Pasha, has been arrested, the police said, adding that a hunt was on for his absconding associate Umar.
The 15-year-old girl was returning home from school with her sister on Friday when the men allegedly took in a car from Hegdenagar.
They left the car in Jayanagar, and caught a KSRTC bus to Shivanasamudra, about 120 km from Bangalore. The police said the men initially tried to check into a hotel, but changed their plans and took the girl to a dargah where they raped her.
The girl’s parents lodged a kidnap complaint on Saturday. Investigators found the girl with Wasim in Shivanasamudra. The girl was said to be in love with Wasim, a mechanic.
Gold chains snatched
A housewife lost her two gold chains while returning home from a marriage reception on Sunday night.
Pushpalatha, 25, a resident of Srikanteshwaranagar, Mahalakshimipura, filed a complaint with the Kamakshipalya police station, stating that she was waiting for an autorickshaw around 9.30 pm at Gouri Shankar Convention Hall when two motorists came from behind and snatched the jewelleries including her mangalsutra before fleeing the place.
Groom loses gold jewellery
Burglars made away with 200 gm gold jewellery from a convention hall in Rajajinagar on Sunday night. Srinivasan G, 42, a resident of Mariyappanapalya, filed a complaint stating that had kept the jewellery in room number 9 in the first floor of Rajarajeshwari Convention Hall.
He was in the ground floor where the reception was on. He returned to the first floor room around 11.30 and found the bag containing jewellery missing.
