A businessman kidnapped from Jayanagar on Saturday evening was rescued by the city police near Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.
The police said that Pradhan, who owns a book shop on Avenue Road, was kidnapped from Jayanagar by a gang. When he did not return home that night, his worried wife filed a missing person case with the Siddapur police station. Later, she received a call from her husband and came to know that he was kidnapped.
Once again, she rushed to the police station and registered a kidnap case.
The south division police have formed a team to nab the abductors. The kidnappers demanded Rs25 lakh from Pradhan’s family members. The police team, finding that the gang was in Andhra Pradesh, rushed to the spot and finally rescued him near Chittoor. Some of Pradhan’s abductors were also arrested. “The police team is on the way to the city from Chittoor with the abducted victim. We will reveal all information about the incident on Wednesday,” a senior police officer said.
According to police sources, the abductors are associates of Korangu Krishna. “We are also trying to figure out the relationship between the gang and the businessman. We will also question Pradhan about the kidnap after he reaches the city,” the police officer said.
