The high court of Karnataka on Tuesday sought the records of senior counsel BV Acharya’s appointment as the special public prosecutor to represent the Lokayukta police in a land scam case involving Katta Jagadish, corporator of Vasanth Nagar ward, and son of former IT and BT minister Katta Subramanya Naidu.

The state government on February 11 had given its nod to Acharya to appear for the lok ayukta, three days after the high court had disapproved his role.

The lok ayukta has been seeking his service as the special public prosecutor against Katta Jagadish’s petition to quash the FIR naming him as the second accused in the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board land scam case.Katta Jagadish, and former special land acquisition officer Muninarayanappa, had filed a writ petition in the high court challenging senior counsel Acharya’s appointment as the special public prosecutor.

Katta Subramanya Naidu is the first accused in the FIR.
