The political thriller unfolding in the state was further spiced up on Sunday when a CD containing a conversation between tourism minister G Janardhana Reddy and a political fixer claiming to be a  confidant of governor HR Bhardwaj conspiring to oust chief minister BS Yeddyurappa found its way to a Kannada TV channel.

The sting operation capturing the meeting between Reddy and one Ashok Sharma which is said to have happened at a secret location on August 11, 2010 shows the latter assuring the former of using his influence with Bhardwaj to enable the Reddys to wriggle out of the office-of-profit case filed by Congress MLC KC Kondaiah with the governor.

Sharma, projecting himself as an advisor in the Union law ministry, is also seen dropping the names of Moily and Ahmed Patel during the conversation that is centred on ousting Yeddyurappa.

The CD shows Reddy and Sharma haggling over the price for doing the job. Starting with Rs25crore, the conversation presents Sharma seeming to settle for a sum of Rs15 crore with Reddy promising to deliver the amount within a few hours of the job being done.

“Yeddyurappa has been troubling me for a long time. He is a liar and has no gratitude for the help we have rendered him when he was in trouble,” Reddy is heard saying as the two discuss the need to oust Yeddyurappa.
