If you are looking to take up a course under the distance education mode in Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), Mysore, be a little watchful.KSOU has three ‘official’ websites, which is confusing students who are visiting the sites for course information and updates. They do not know which one to trust.“I want to take up MBA course through the distance mode with KSOU, but there are three websites and I don’t know which one is correct. If all three are official websites, let the university confirm the same officially. There are some differences in dates and events,” said Nandeesh, employee at a private firm.A search for KSOU on the internet yields three official websites: www.ksoumysore.edu.in, www.ksouedu.com and www.ksoukarnataka.com. Though information provided is similar, the university has not made clear that they are official and they can be trusted.“I am looking for some official information on courses offered by KSOU. But when I search for the site, I came across three sites. It is really confusing which one to trust,” said Suprada Raju, a homemaker looking to pursue a course through distance mode.According to university officials, out of the three, two sites have designed for carrying advertisements. The site www.ksouedu.com carries an advertisement from Bharath PG college (partner of KSOU), which when clicked opens a page which provides information only about that particular college and not about the university. Likewise, the website www.ksoukarnataka.com has an advertisement from SCOPE, which says it is an academic collaborator for the university.
