Karnataka lokayukta orders in DGP case on May 3
The special court is expected to pass orders on the complaint against him that he flouted norms by enrolling himself in a 3-year law course without obtaining the mandatory permission.
Lokayukta special court on Saturday adjourned the hearing of the DGP (CID and Economic Offence) RK Datta’s case to May 3.
On the day, the special court is expected to pass orders on the complaint against Datta—that he, though being a member of the All-India Service, flouted norms by enrolling himself in a three-year law course without obtaining the mandatory permission from the government.
When the case came up for hearing on Saturday, Lokayukta judge NK Sudhindra Rao sought certain clarifications on the records submitted and adjourned the case. A social activist from Mysore, Mallesh, had filed the case against Datta.
Mallesh had alleged that Datta had been pursuing a three-year, full-time LLB course from June 2009 at Arunodaya Institute of Legal Studies, an institute based in Bangalore.
Datta, it was also alleged, had used his position to manipulate attendance records and make him eligible for the first and second semester examinations. “This amounts to criminal breach of trust, criminal misconduct and cheating,” Mallesh submitted in the court.
