Karnataka high court adjourns plea on case against Yeddyurappa
The high court had on March 29 stayed the lok ayukta special court’s March 24 order to probe the allegations against Yeddyurappa and his family members.
The Karnataka high court will on June 2 hear a petition requesting it to vacate a stay on lok ayukta probe on an alleged land scam case against chief minister BS Yeddyurappa and his family members.
Advocate Sirajin Basha moved the high court after the Supreme Court had rejected a special leave petition he had filed, asking to approach the lower court.
The high court had on March 29 stayed the lok ayukta special court’s March 24 order to probe the allegations against Yeddyurappa and his family members.
The stay was granted on a petition by the chief minister’s son-in-law, Sohan Kumar. Basha challenged the stay order in the Supreme Court. While rejecting the SLP, the apex court directed that the lower court should decide on the case within six weeks.
It may be recalled that the petitioner had filed five private complaints under Sections 190 and 200 of the CrPC against Yeddyurappa and his family in the lower court. Following the case, governor HR Bhardwaj had sanctioned the prosecution of Yeddyurappa under IPC Section 405 (criminal breach of trust) and relevent provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
