Infrastructure principal secretary V Madhu has decided to quit government services citing personal reasons.

Madhu, who also holds additional charge of revenue secretary, has applied to be relieved of his duties under the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS).

Speaking to DNA, Madhu confirmed that he has applied for voluntary retirement, but he refused to disclose the reasons for quitting. However he clarified that his decision was purely on personal grounds. “I have decided to move away from state government services. I am happy the state is treating me very well. The BJP government, especially, has given great responsibility and it has given freedom to work for the good of the state,” he said.

But according to government sources, he was upset with the high pressure and demands of government service as he is the principal secretary for infrastructure and revenue departments taking a heavy burden.

V Madhu is 1978 batch IAS officer of Karnataka cadre and one of the senior most IAS officer, in the IAS officers ranking he stands at 11the place.
