One could not bear abdominal pain, the other was childless and depressed
Unable to bear chronic abdominal pain, Mamata S, 23, hanged herself in her Peenya home on Sunday when her husband of three years Shivalinga Murthy was away.
The incident came to light when he returned home about 12.30pm.
Although a suicide note was not found near the body, the police suspect that Mamata must have taken this extreme step because of her ailment that could not be cured despite several hospital visits.
Murthy, a labourer, did not have a regular job and he could not afford to pay for her treatment in good hospitals, police said.
After postmortem, Mamata’s body was handed over to the family.
In another incident, a childless and depressed housewife Anupama, 25, hanged herself in her Vidyanagar home in Peenya on Sunday.
Madhu, her husband of four years, was away when she took the extreme step.
Madhu came home at 2.30pm and knocked on the door. When there was no response, Madhu called the neighbours and they broke open the door to find Anupama hanging from the ceiling.
The couple did not have children and she was depressed as a result. She was undergoing treatment for her ailment, police said.
Raju, Anupama’s brother, confirmed that his sister
was depressed for the past one year. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem.
