If you are one of those who spend more time with their Facebook friends than those outside of virtual reality, we have a great news for you. A new, free app, Recommend.ly, will now help you post content guaranteed to catch the interest of your friends on Facebook and also generate maximum number of ‘likes’.

While Recommend.ly has been available in the United States for over a year now, it has come to India only recently. The app, which looks like a website, collates all details about the most popular trending topics online in various fields such as science, technology, sports and more.

“Based on where you are, the app will present you with quotes that are popular with people now, technology news that is popular now and you can simply post that on your Facebook and it will strike a chord with your Facebook friends,” said Venkat Raman, CEO and co-founder of the app. It has another feature: “queuing” posts for optimal likes on Facebook.

“We have done research on when you can get most likes on Facebook and what time you should post it. So you can mark the posts you like and it will be posted when most of your friends are likely to be online and paying attention,” Raman said.

The idea of posting status messages at a preferred time to attract more eyeballs began in the US last year when Recommend functioned more as a way to tell you when your friends are most likely to not ignore your post. According to Raman, users also wanted to get content to post, hence the current avatar of the app was born.

In case you are wondering, the app is already available online for Indian users, having had a soft launch in March.

Raman said that so far, the app has more than 3,500 users in India, with the global figure being about 36,000.
