The Karnataka government is ready to construct a ‘Taiwan City’ with advanced infrastructure in Bangalore to encourage Taiwanese companies to come and invest in the state, according to large and medium industries minister Murugesh R Nirani.

Welcoming a 10-member Taiwanese delegation at Vidhana Soudha, he said the government would be happy to prepare a ‘Taiwan-focussed action plan’ by constructing facilities in Tier-II cities in the state where Taiwanese companies can come and invest.

Nirani said the state is committed to provide opportunities for Taiwanese companies to invest in areas like hardware, networking, LED manufacturing, research and technology, HR skill development.

Chief secretary SV Ranganath said Bangalore accounts for 40 % of IT exports from India. “About 80 % of leading IT companies are based in Bangalore and the city has become the fourth biggest technological hub in the world,” he said. He appealed to the representatives of the Taiwanese delegation to be a part of state’s growth story.

The Taiwanese delegation was headed by deputy minister of economic affairs Francis Liang and vice minister Kuo Hsin Liang. The communication industry in Taiwan grew 45 percent in 2011. Over the years, Taiwan has emerged a global IT leader with about 90 percent share in laptop, notebook, LCD monitor, server and hardware peripherals.
