Govt decision is daylight murder of democracy: Yeddyurappa

Beleaguered Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa today slammed governor HR Bhardwaj's decision to prosecute him on corruption charges as a "daylight murder of democracy and justice"."It is nothing but broad daylight murder of democracy and justice", Yeddyurappa said in a strongly-worded statement soon after Bhardwaj gave sanction to two advocates of a lawyers forum to prosecute the CM under the Prevention of Corruption Act.Charging that the governor has carried out his political agenda through his office, Yeddyurappa also hit out at the opposition saying "what the opposition parties could not achieve directly through the mandate of the people, has been achieved by them through the office of the governor and Raj Bhavan"."It is unfortunate that the governor has taken the decision to accord sanction to prosecute even before any preliminary inquiry or any opportunity having been given to me in the case relating to a private complaint filed by individuals", he alleged and dubbed the decision as politically motivated.In continued tirade against Bhardwaj, he charged the governor has acted in an "arbitrary and partisan" manner giving a go-by to the principles of natural justice. "From the beginning, the governor has been behaving in a biased manner and as an agent of Congress and JD(S). The governor did not even seek the opinion from the council of ministers on the complaint", he pointed out."There is no instance in judicial history of any arbitrary decision like this without recourse to an inquiry. I have full faith in the judicial system of this country and I will come out clean", Yeddyurappa said.Yeddyurappa expressed his anguish over the governor not furnishing to him a copy of his order granting sanction for his prosecution.Sources close to Yeddyurappa said the chief minister took strong exception to the governor releasing the order of his decision to the media without providing him with a copy. "I have not seen the order. I am yet to get it", Yeddyurappa had said ealier when his reaction was sought.
