Get ready for BJP’s mother of all bashes

A mammoth dais, well elevated to ensure a clear view of the leaders to the nearly 50,000 people expected to gather at the event, an air-conditioned VIP lounge adjacent to it, and neat arrangements of packaged food for every one who turns-up — the biggest bash of the BJP government to celebrate its second anniversary will not just reflect its achievements, but also its penchant to ensure a trend-setting show.

Party workers and people from all over the state will converge at the Palace Grounds on June 25 for the Sadhana Samavesha. While organisers said they expected at least 20,000 people, party sources said the numbers could go up to 50,000.

Hundreds of workers are working round the clock to erect the mammoth pandal and dais, with hi-tech lighting. While the pandal would have comfortable seating and fans for the gathering, the leaders on the stage would have the comfort of an air cooler. An exclusive VIP lounge adjacent to the dais would comprise of the best of comforts for the netas, with high-class resting and toilet facilities.  The image of a beaming chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, accompanied by posters of party national leaders and the state president, depicting some of the novel social welfare schemes of the government, would together form the backdrop for the stage.

BJP spokesperson S Prakash told DNA that the event would begin at noon, with leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj as the chief guest, and would end by 3pm. While no other party national leaders would attend the Samavesha, the state BJP unit was expected to invite state opposition leaders, Prakash said.
He added that apart from showcasing the successful tenure of the BJP government over the last two years, the audience would be entertained with a couple of cultural programmes as well. The event was expected to bring the party workers closer to the government, and acknowledge their importance in the government’s scheme of things, Prakash said.
