Freedom Pass to ensure hassle-free experience for bus travellers in Karnataka

People planning to travel by road during Dasara can now collect a special pass for an extensive and hassle-free trip.

Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is offering them Freedom Pass to travel for seven consecutive days to various destinations even without reservation. 

Before Dasara, the corporation will start issuing the passes to two classes of its services — Atal Sarige (ordinary) and Rajahamsa (semi-deluxe). The fare varies depending on peak and non-peak periods. 

“The peak period is during April, May, June, October and December but a lot of marketing executives, salespersons and tourists keep travelling during other months too. Its advantage is that people can travel extensively without having to book again and again or running for discounts,” said Channabasappa Herur, chief marketing manager of KSRTC.

Passengers can directly go and sit in the specified class of bus selected. They can reserve a ticket by paying Rs23 extra. They can travel without reservation too.

The pass will be available at all KSRTC bus stations and counters across the state and also in neighbouring states where the service is available.

If you want to travel anywhere within the state in Atal Sarige class of bus service, pay `900 during non-peak periods and Rs1,000 during peak periods. To travel for seven days in semi-deluxe Rajahamsa services anywhere in state and also outside the state, pay Rs1,700 during non-peak months and Rs1,900 during peak months.

A senior KSRTC official said one could book tickets 10 days in advance. One can also enter the pass number on the  KSRTC website and book the seats for continuous trips or board the bus and show the pass.
