Former gay lover killed JD(S) security guard in Bangalore

A homosexual relationship that had gone sour resulted in the murder of a security guard attached to the Janata Dal (Secular) office, police said, claiming that they had solved the case on Friday.

The central crime branch police arrested two men, Raju, 26, and his relative Sunil, 19, in connection with the murder of the watchman, Muniyappa, 55. Both the accused were from Huliyurdurga in Tumkur district.

The guard was found murdered in a room of the JD(S) office on Race Course Road on Thursday morning. It was earlier suspected that an illicit relationship with a woman had led to the murder.

Police said Raju committed the crime after he had been infuriated by Muniyappa’s persistent demand for unnatural sex. The accused had initially yielded to the guard’s advances, but later spurned Muniyappa.

Raju had been employed in a tea stall functioning in the party office premises for nine years. He used to stay in the teastall, and Muniyappa had allowed the accused to use the office’s  bathroom.

The slain guard had been on regular night duty at the office. He had been employed there for the past two decades.

After being spurned, Muniyappa banned Raju from using the bathroom, and forced him to arrange prostitutes from Majestic.

The accused reportedly told the police that this infuriated him, and he took Sunil’s help to get even with the security guard.

Both the men went to the JD(S) office on Wednesday night and stabbed Muniyappa. They also hit his head with a chair and mutilated his genitals before fleeing.

The men were arrested from Sunkadhakette, assistant commissioner of police (Seshadripuram) HM Omkaraiah said, adding that they had found the weapon used in the murder.
Muniyappa was a resident of Bapuji Block, Swatantra Nagar in Srirampura.
