BANGALORE
An exclusive meet on Water Resources under the joint auspices of World Economic Forum and Asian Development Bank is being planned in October in Bangalore.
Your woes over water shortage in the city are likely to evaporate with global help.
Corporate honchos from all over the world are to converge on Bangalore to come out with effective solutions for your city to streamline water distribution and cut down pilferage to make optimal amounts of water available for the citizens.
An exclusive meet on Water Resources under the joint auspices of World Economic Forum (WEF) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) is being planned in October in Bangalore and it will be followed by Agriculture Investors Meet in January 2011.
Chief secretary SV Ranganath told DNA that the proposed meet on water resources would see corporate honchos from across the world and officials of ADB exploring ways and means to improve drinking water distribution system in Bangalore and other cities of the state. It would focus on efficient utilisation of water resources to extend irrigation facilities to every part of Karnataka.
In Bangalore, where 30% of water is lost or stolen, the focus would be more on plugging water leakages and pilferage.
Chief minister BS Yeddyurappa who returned to Bangalore on Friday from the WEF conclave in Tiangin, China, said “Karnataka was the only state from India to have been invited for the WEF. The recent success of Global Investors’ Meet in Bangalore has further boosted the state’s stature.”
