Movie producer Govardhan Murthy was remanded to judicial custody for allegedly threatening a witness in a murder case. The Ulsoor police have taken him into custody for interrogation, said deputy commissioner of police (east) M Chandra Sekhar.

While Murthy was at Parappana Agrahara Central Jail, he called the witness over phone and allegedly threatened him. Dr Shantha Kumar, proprietor of Sathya Hospital in Kammanahalli, filed a complaint against Murthy a month ago.

The 10th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court gave Ulsoor police the permission to take Murthy into their custody for a day. Murthy is now in Ulsoor police station.

He was arrested by Bagalur police in October 2008 for allegedly murdering budding actor Vinod Kumar on October 6, 2008 in Bagalur. He was shot dead during the tussle. Reddy later filed a complaint against Murthy.

Vinod was administered first aid at Sathya Hospital. Dr Kumar of Sathya Hospital has given a statement against Murthy in the court. Murthy allegedly flew into a rage and threatened to kill him.
