In a one of its kind incident in the city, posting a hit-and-run footage on Facebook helped the traffic police nab the accused.
The city police arrested Taramurthy, a native of Hassan, for causing the death of a pedestrian, Hema Reddy, on early Sunday morning near Bommanahalli Junction.
After the incident, the police posted the footage obtained from a CCTV camera at the spot on Facebook, and sought help from people to nab the reckless car driver who did not bother to even stop his vehicle after hitting the pedestrian.
“After posting the footage on Facebook, we got a tip off from people about the car. We nabbed the accused and seized the car. During the questioning, he said it was out of fear that he did not stop to help the pedestrian,” said additional commissioner of police (traffic) MA Saleem.
