Dr Geetha Shashikumar, corporator of Attur ward, was unanimously elected as the chairman of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) health committee on Thursday following the high court’s rejection of a petition filed by Peenya Industrial Area ward corporator KL Thimmanajaiah.

The BBMP had recently conducted elections for 11 standing committee chairmen, but left out the health committee due to the petition filed by Thimmanjaiah before the high court questioning the move of dissolving the committee which did not complete the full one-year term.

The Karnataka high court had first directed the Palike to maintain status quo with regard to the election of the chairperson.
