Dons give tremors to realtors in Bangalore

Top builders in Bangalore appear to be in real and grave danger of being made targets by underworld dons.

Many builders in Mumbai, Pune, Mangalore and Kochi have been receiving threats calls for protection money from members of various gangs belonging to underworld dons operating from foreign locations.

Now, this menace has come to Bangalore.

A day after a group of four youths fired at Mantri Developers’ office on Vittal Mallya Road, leading to the death of one of the
attackers in an encounter a few hours later, the company’s chairman and managing director Sushil Mantri has been issued a death threat.

The threat is suspected to be from the elusive underworld don Ravi Poojary, and was issued through a private Kannada TV channel. A person claiming to be Ravi Poojary issued the message threatening to attack Sushil Mantri within a fortnight if he failed to “settle the issue”.

The cheek with which the message has been issued barely a day after attacking the Mantri premises indicates that the builder and real estate community in Bangalore faces a real threat from extortionists on the pretext of “protection money”.
