Curry row: Drunken man stomps wife to death in Bangalore

It was when Kalavathi, 38, screamed at her husband for returning home drunk that he pushed her onto the floor and stomped her throat, police said on Sunday.

Kalavathi vomited blood and died at their house in KP Agrahara on Saturday night.

Her husband for 21 years, Raju, 42, has been arrested, police said, adding that the woman’s refusal to cook chicken curry had also angered the accused.

The woman had reportedly asked Raju, an alcoholic, to stop binge drinking, saying it would be embarrassing to their recently married daughter.

He refused to listen to Kalavathi, resulting in the quarrel and subsequent murder, police said.

Recovery agent murdered
In another incident, a 33-year-old recovery agent was hacked to death in Yelahanka around 8 am on Sunday, when he was heading towards Thirumalanagar after a recovery.

Police said the victim, Manjunath Rao, was a rowdy-sheeter facing criminal charges registered at several police stations.

Rao was attacked with lethal weapons by a five-man motorcycle-borne unidentified gang. Though he was taken to a nearby private hospital, his life could not be saved.

Police said they had registered a case and were investigating.
