Southern Railway’s Palghat division handles trains coming to Mangalore haphazardly, creating hassles for passengers, claimed representatives of West Coast Railway Users Association (WCRUA). Association members had this message for Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and Palghat division officials in Mangalore on Monday.

“Unless a Mangalore division is created or railway operations in the region are merged with Mysore division, Mangaloreans will continue to suffer,” Kateel told DNA.

Many trains coming to Mangalore, including the Mangalore-Chatrapathi Shivaji Terminus (CST) Mumbai, Verna (Goa)-Mangalore, Yeswanthpur-Mangalore, are made to wait for long before entering the city, while trains going towards Kerala are allowed to pass without any hiccup.

“Palghat division officials depict Mangalore as an unfriendly destination to arrive at, while they facilitate trains departing from Mangalore towards Kerala to pass through on time,” said Hanumanth Kamath of WCRUA.
