Residents of Agalagurki village near Chikkaballapur on Friday manhandled the six accused in the murder and kidnapping of two college students at Hunsur. People vented their anger against the accused when the men were taken to the spot where the dead bodies were found.

A team of the Central Crime Branch (CCB), headed by ACP BN Nyamagowda, was in the spot to collect information in the case. Hundreds of villagers gathered, and shouted abuse at the accused. Some tried to beat them, but the CCB team and local police team pacified the mob.

The accused have been brought back to the city. They will be taken to Hunsur and Mysore for further investigation. CCB police are investigating the Chikkaballapur link in the case as the bodies were found in Agalagurki on June 12, four days after the Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD) members kidnapped the boys.

Joint commissioner of police (crime) Alok Kumar and deputy commissioner of police (crime) Krishnamraju visited Chikkaballapur on Thursday and collected information. Local police, however, say the men wanted to dispose the bodies far away, and were going to  Chikkaballapur. Police said the role of the KFD in the case would be investigated.
