A 25-year-old cook allegedly committed suicide in an apartment in Basavanagudi on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Shankar Bardhan, a native of Orissa.
On Saturday night, Bardhan had dinner with two other cooks, Ashok and Milan, who work in the neighbouring flat. After dinner, Ashok and Milan went out to finish some pending work. When the duo returned, they found that the flat was locked.
When they looked through the window, they found Bardhan hanging from the ceiling; he had used a bedspread to hang himself. He did not leave a suicide note.
The flat belonged to Abhishek, a private firm employee, who was on a visit to Kolkata. Abhishek had hired Bardhan from a catering agency. The body has been kept at KIMS Hospital for postmortem.
