Yeddyurappa, accompanied by the chief justice of the Karnataka high court JS Khehar, on Tuesday inspected the construction of 15 bungalows for high court judges and instructed public works department (PWD) officials to speed up the work
Chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, accompanied by the chief justice of the Karnataka high court JS Khehar, on Tuesday inspected the construction of 15 bungalows for high court judges and instructed public works department (PWD) officials to speed up the work and complete at least 11 bungalows within the next six months.
Asking the officials to maintain quality in the work and complete the project at the earliest, Yeddyurappa said: “The state government had suggested four locations for the colony. Finally this place, near Hebbal, has been selected. The judges said that it would be difficult for them to reach the court in time if the land was given in far away places. With Hebbal being close to the city centre, the judges can reach the court in less than 15 minutes.”
He told mediapersons that the chief justice was happy with the quality of the work.
TR Shivaramu, executive engineer, PWD, told DNA: “ The houses had been planned for the ministers. Now, the state has decided to give them to judges. We have not changed anything in the building plan. The foundation stone has been laid for three units, while ground floor work has been completed for five units. The first floor work is on for two units, while another unit will reach that stage by April 30.”
“As per the plan, the construction of 11 quarters will be completed by December 2011. But the chief minister and the chief justice have asked us to speed up the work and complete it before August. We will do our best,” he explained.
“The Karnataka Agro Industries Corporation is yet to hand over for the remaining four residential units. Some sheds are standing on these lands. Measures have been taken to shift the sheds. The construction work will start once the land is handed over,” Shivaramu added.
