Recently, the state government ordered a CID probe into the alleged scam.

The Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) was investigating the case based on a complaint lodged by the then commissioner of BBMP Siddaiah.

The scam pertains to BBMP wards coming under Gandhinagar, Malleswaram and Rajarajeshwarinagar assembly constituencies. CID additional director general of police (ADGP) PS Meena said the CID has collected files related to bogus bill scam.

"We have started the investigation by verifying files," Meena told DNA. The investigation was transferred to the CID after a fire broke out in the BMTF's office on the BBMP premises.

However, the investigation into the fire incident is being handled by Ulsoor gate police and not the CID.
