Chief justice JS Khehar of the high court of Karnataka on Thursday posted the hearing of appeal of a woman advocate and three others, challenging a fast track court verdict in the sensational BV Girish murder case.
The hearing has been posted to a division bench comprising justices N Ananda and AS Pachhapure.
Earlier, justice K Sreedhar Rao, who headed another division bench that was hearing the appeal by S Shubha, and others, had recused himself from the case, necessitating the chief justice to intervene in the matter.
During the hearing on September 8, special public prosecutor Venkat Rao had presented before the court a pamphlet titled “Justice for Girish.”
Justice Rao recused himself from hearing the case, expressing anger over the distribution of pamphlets in the court hall.
Shubha, her boyfriend Arun Verma, his cousin Dinesh and a driver, Venkatesh were sentenced to life by the fast track court on July 14, for conspiring and murdering Girish in 2003, three months after she got engaged to him. Girish was a software engineer with Intel.
