With the governor required to address joint session of the state legislature on January 6, the chief minister apparently wants to ensure that the event passes off on a harmonious note.
Chief minister BS Yeddyurappa on Tuesday extended an olive branch to governor HR Bhardwaj, by sending clear signals of his desire for a rapprochment with the Raj Bhavan resident.
“I will meet the governor on December 31 to clear his misconceptions about me and my government,” the chief minister said.
With the governor required to address joint session of the state legislature on January 6, the chief minister apparently wants to ensure that the event passes off on a harmonious note.
“Henceforth I will meet the governor at least once in a fortnight to clear any misunderstandings he may have about my government. I will avoid any confrontation between the state government and the governor. I will provide explanation on all the issues he has raised,” Yeddyurappa said.
Yeddyurappa will extend a formal invitation to the governor on December 31 to address the joint session.
The chief minister, who had spit fire at the governor recently for writing letters frequently demanding action on land scams and illegal mining, preferred to go soft on the issue. “I will also provide all the details on issues raised by the governor in his letters. If necessary, I will ask the officials to meet the governor with documents to explain,” he said.
However, the chief minister continued his attack against the Congress leaders who frequently meet the governor to complain against his government.
“It is not appropriate on part of the Congress leaders to misuse Raj Bhavan for their political purposes. Even the recent meeting of union law minister M Veerappa Moily with the governor was politically motivated,” Yeddyurappa said.
The efforts of the Congress and JD(S) to malign the BJP government would not succeed. The BJP would score a thumping victory in the taluk and zilla panchayat polls.
People would teach a befitting lesson to the independent MLAs who had betrayed BJP, he said.
