BS Yeddyurappa resigns as Karnataka CM

It’s over. That last minute trip to Dharmasthala to seek the Lord’s blessings didn’t work wonders. Karnataka CM B S Yeddyurappa, indicted by Lokayukta N Santosh Hegde in his voluminous report on illegal mining in the state, had to quit, on orders from the BJP’s parliamentary board.
The party said other tainted ministers, including the Reddy brothers, who have been named in N Santosh Hegde’s report, would go as well.
Sources within the BJP said Yeddyurappa sought time till Sunday to quit as Saturday would be amavasya and everybody, from kid to about to kick the bucket, knows he is highly superstitious.
“Yeddyurappa was called to Delhi and heard. The party’s parliamentary board then resolved that Karnataka’s leader must be changed and he was asked to resign,” BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
